Visualizations are the backbone of our community. A great image can stir emotion, communicate a critical message, or capture a scientific moment that might otherwise be lost. The VCBM Image Contest invites you to submit images that reflect the state of the art in visual computing for biology and medicine.
Scope
We welcome various forms of visual submissions, including:
- Scientific Visualization: High-quality renderings from your research data.
- Artistic Interpretation: Photorealistic or non-photorealistic renderings that highlight the beauty of biological structures.
- Educational Illustrations: Visuals designed to explain complex medical procedures or biological processes.
- System/Workflow Images: Visual representations of new tools or workflows (e.g., from an extended reality application).
Submission Guidelines
- Submission Method: Please submit your entries via Google Forms.
- Eligibility: At least one author of the image must register and attend the conference.
- Limit: Each participant may submit up to 3 images.
- Format: High-resolution images (min. 1000px on the shortest side). Accepted formats: PNG, JPG, TIFF or PDF. Max file size: 100 MB.
- Supporting Text: Submissions must include a title (max 10 words), a short caption for public display (max 60 words), and a brief background description for the jury (max 250 words) explaining the technique and scientific context.
Selection & Awards
Submissions will be displayed in a gallery during the conference. Winners will be selected through two tracks:
- Jury Award: Selected by a panel of experts based on scientific significance, technique, and aesthetics.
- People’s Choice Award: Voted on by conference attendees during the event.
Note: Authors retain full copyright of their images. By submitting, authors grant VCBM the right to use the images for conference promotion and exhibition (e.g., website, social media, proceedings) with proper credit.
