VCBM\u2019s scope encompasses all aspects of visual computing research, technological development, and practices in medicine and life sciences. Relevant topics include the acquisition, processing, visualization, and interpretation of image data in biology and medicine, and the visual analysis and communication of life science data.<\/p>\n<h3>Submission types for VCBM 2025<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Submissions for this year\u2019s meeting include short, full, and survey papers as well as posters. All accepted full papers and surveys will be featured in a special issue of the journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/journal\/computers-and-graphics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Computers &amp; Graphics (C&amp;G)<\/a>. Please see previous the previous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/special-issue\/10S5T4911MR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Computers &amp; Graphics special issue<\/a> and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/diglib.eg.org\/handle\/10.2312\/463\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">EG VCBM proceedings<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for examples of published papers. We encourage authors to provide supporting information in the form of video and other media. Accepted work will focus on a well-defined biological or medical problem and demonstrate significant innovation or improvement in visual computing. Surveys are long-form submissions addressing new and emerging topics in visual computing, biology, and medicine.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Topics<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">All aspects relating to the development, application, and practices of visual computing in the life sciences are relevant to the meeting. These include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Visual computing solutions designed for use by medical, biomedical, and biological practitioners, researchers, and educators.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The use of eXtended Reality (e.g., for surgical procedures, molecular visualization, rehabilitation, and therapy).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Approaches for processing, visual analysis, and communication of data from new or challenging modalities (e.g., real-time ultrasound, CyTOF, Spectroscopy, layer fMRI, single-cell and spatial-omics, environmental monitoring).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Visual computing approaches incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) and explainable AI (XAI). Including but not limited to XAI methods and approaches designed for clinical support on individual and cohort electronic health records<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Visual computing solutions that support new approaches for modeling and simulation with applications in medicine and biology.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Workflows and processes leveraging visual computing to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration in biology and medicine.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Visualization and visual storytelling methods designed to communicate healthcare data to patients and laymen, supporting diagnoses interpretation and doctor-patient relationship<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Formats<\/h3>\n<p>VCBM 2025 will feature three main tracks.
