Venue<\/h3>\n

VCBM 2023 will take place on September 20-22, 2023 in Norrk\u00f6ping, Sweden and is hosted by Link\u00f6ping University<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0Norrk\u00f6ping Visualization Center C<\/a>. Both are located within the\u00a0Industrial Landscape<\/a> of Norrk\u00f6ping.<\/p>\n

VCBM will take place in the lecture hall K1<\/a> in the K\u00e5kenhus building on the LiU campus in Norrk\u00f6ping next to the river. Enter K\u00e5kenhus either from Bredgatan or via the campus foot bridge and follow the signs for K1. The lecture hall is located on the ground floor (floor 2). For directions see here<\/a>. In case an entrance is locked, please go to the entrance next to the campus foot bridge.<\/p>\n

The Bio+Med+Vis Summer School takes place in room KO301<\/a> in Kopparhammaren 2<\/a> on the opposite side of the river.<\/p>\n

Social Events<\/h3>\n

During VCBM there will be a number of social events. <\/p>\n

The conference dinner will begin at 18:00 and takes place at Harrys, Holmbrogr\u00e4nden 1, which is within walking distance of the conference location.<\/p>\n

\n

Accommodation<\/h3>\n

Most hotels in Norrk\u00f6ping are within walking distance of the conference venue. You can find an overview here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Travel Information<\/h3>\n

Flying<\/h4>\n

Travel by air to Norrk\u00f6ping can be achieved through two main routes: via Stockholm’s international airport at Arlanda (ARN), which has connections from all major hubs, or via Link\u00f6ping’s city airport (LPI) which has daily flights from the major international hub in Amsterdam. In addition, there is the Stockholm Skavsta (NYO) close by in Nyk\u00f6ping which is serving connections to a range of European cities.<\/p>\n

From Arlanda there are frequent train services to Norrk\u00f6ping either directly (roughly every two hours) or using the Arlanda Express service to Stockholm’s central station and then direct services to Norrk\u00f6ping which leave at least once per hour. Direct trains typically take around 2 hours to reach Norrk\u00f6ping.<\/p>\n

From Link\u00f6ping a taxi to Norrk\u00f6ping will take approximately 35 minutes while a bus to Link\u00f6ping’s central station and then a train to Norrk\u00f6ping will take around an hour depending on connections.<\/p>\n

From Nyk\u00f6ping there is a frequent airport coach service (flygbussarna.se<\/a>) to Norrk\u00f6ping taking approx. 1 hour.<\/p>\n

Train services<\/h4>\n

Train services via Denmark provide an easy and environmentally friendly route to Norrk\u00f6ping with many direct trains crossing the \u00d6resund bridge daily and arriving in Norrk\u00f6ping some four hours later.<\/p>\n

Trains can be booked (in English) through the national rail service SJ here<\/a> with tickets available either as e-tickets sent by e-mail or for collection from ticket machines at the station.<\/p>\n

Payments in Sweden<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
Sweden is a nearly cashless country. Many places in Sweden like restaurants, cafes, kiosks, pharmacies\u00a0 refuse cash payments and accept cards only. In addition, public transports in most cities do not accept cash payments, either. So you\u2019re not likely to need a great deal of hard currency for your stay in Sweden. Instead, it is advisable to have a credit or debit card that can be used to pay expenses outside your country. Please note that in order to pay or withdraw cash with your credit card it requires that you have a card with chip and PIN (Personal Identification Number). The older magnetic-stripe cards won\u2019t work.<\/div>\n
