Accepted posters will be placed in the workshop area during the time of the event, and the program will feature a dedicated poster session where the authors have the opportunity to present their research and lead fruitful discussions with peer researchers that will inspire for future research and cooperation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>In addition, accepted papers and posters have, for the first time this year, the opportunity to be presented in a live demo session. \u00a0<\/strong>This unique opportunity to present the results of current research live to a large audience of experts is intended to promote not only fruitful expert discussions, but also the possibility of new collaborations.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Aims and Scope<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We are also pleased that this year we accept the following types of posters:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Original, application-oriented research posters that advance the fusion of visual computing methods within medicine and biology, according to the general call that can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/conferences.eg.org\/vcbm2019\/general-call-2\/\">here<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Research overview posters summarizing biomedical visualization research on topics below. This is an excellent way to highlight, for example, the research carried out in the scope of a PhD project, to promote PhD direction discussions with experts, or to present activities of a specific research group.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Research group overview posters presenting the current research work of an entire group or a research center. The scope of such a poster can also include upcoming funded projects and thus even indicate open vacancies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Posters describing an open research problem that may have been defined by a domain scientist (e.g., a physician or biologist). This is a unique opportunity to present an exciting research problem to a broad professional audience and to promote new collaborations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Suggested topics for posters include, but are not limited to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Visual computing solutions for medical applications like radiology, surgery, pathology, \u00a0cardiology, nephrology, neurology, etc., including medical education<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Visual computing solutions for applications that support biomedical research in systems biology, -omics research, molecular pathology, neuroanatomy, biomedical imaging, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Medical simulation and visual computing solutions that support new approaches in computational medicine, including also the uses of stereoscopy and haptics<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Visualization approaches for data from new or challenging imaging modalities including real-time imaging (e.g., ultrasound)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Visual computing solutions in the context of the virtual physiological human<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Methods might include, but are not limited to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Visualization and analysis of all kinds of biomedical data (signals and images)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Visualization, mining, and analysis of biomedical data collections, including cohort data<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Information visualization of medical data sets, e.g., electronic health records<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Computer models of biomechanical, physiological, and biochemical functions in living systems<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fusion, analysis, and visualization of heterogeneous and\/or multi-source data<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Multi-scale methods and data structures for large data<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Interaction and design of visual computing workflows in medicine and biology<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Data tracking and registration<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Data reconstruction and geometry extraction<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Real-time rendering and interaction with anatomy models<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Submission Instructions<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The submission to the poster track at EG VCBM consists of a \u00bd \u2013 1-page abstract (9pt, 12px, or 0.75em) optionally including pictures. The references and images do not count into the page limit (i.e., you can have an extra page with references). The poster abstracts will be reviewed by the poster conference chairs and the abstracts of the accepted posters will be included in the conference publications. The material from the poster can be re-used for a full paper submission somewhere else and this act is not to be considered as a self-plagiarism. Authors of the accepted posters are expected to bring their poster to the conference, register for the conference participation, and present their work at the poster at the time of the poster session.
