On September 4th, the program of VCBM 2019 will take place at the rooftop of the Domini park (Husova 14a), right next to the\u00a0Hotel International<\/a>, where we will spend the following days of the conference. Hotel International is located in the historical center of Brno (the same venue as EuroVis 2018). Student volunteers will be around to navigate you to the conference rooms.<\/header>\n

Opening Reception<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

For the first evening of the conference, we prepared the welcome event at Rosnicka restaurant<\/a>\u00a0(Jana Ne\u010dase 966\/1<\/span>) in the beautiful Wilson forest-park. We will start at 8 PM.There will be several options how to get there from the conference venue. We will organize one walking group (approximately 60 mins of walking), right after the end of the conference program. Another group will combine the tram from Komensk\u00e9ho n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed stop (tram no. 4 to N\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed M\u00edru) and 15 minutes walking (you will get tram tickets from student volunteers). For those who want to avoid much walking, there is an option to take the tram no. 1 from Hlavn\u00ed n\u00e1dra\u017e\u00ed (main train station) in the direction Bystrc, E\u010derova and get off at the stop Br\u00e1fova (the stop is most of the day on request!). From there, it is 7 minutes walk to the restaurant.<\/p>\n

After the event, there are night buses leaving from Burianovo n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed stop (10 minutes walking from the restaurant). It is bus no. 92 in the direction Lesn\u00e1, Halasovo n\u00e1m\u011bst\u00ed and the time schedule is 22:42, 23:12. 23:42, 00:42. It will take you to \u010cesk\u00e1 station, which is the closest one to the conference venue.<\/p>\n

Conference Dinner<\/h1>\n

The conference dinner on Thursday 5th will take place at the \u0160pilberk castle<\/a>, right opposite the conference venue. It will start at 8 PM and the route will be paved by the student volunteers.<\/p>\n

City<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

Brno ( \/\u02c8b\u025c\u02d0rno\u028a\/ in English) is the second largest city of the Czech Republic and it is the the county city of the beautiful\u00a0South Moravia<\/a>\u00a0region. With around 400\u00a0000 inhabitants, Brno is still a rather small city with a friendly, cosmopolitan atmosphere.<\/p>\n

The city offers dozens of historical sights to see. The cityscape is dominated by the\u00a0\u0160pilberk<\/a>\u00a0castle (literally across the street from conference venue) and the\u00a0Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul<\/a>. Another architectural monument is the\u00a0functionalist\u00a0Villa Tugendhat<\/a>,\u00a0which has been included on the\u00a0UNESCO\u00a0list of World Heritage Sites. You can visit also the\u00a0Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady<\/a>\u00a0and the neighboring Augistinian Abbey, where the founder of genetics \u2013 Gregor J. Mendel \u2013 was living and working on his research.<\/p>\n
